All year round, each HPL branch offers a programme with various events and activities in which (literary) performances of reputed Dutch, foreign and young talents take place, as well as discussions, debates and lectures on literary and social subjects. There are often literary reading groups, theatre performances, concerts and exhibitions.
The Hague Public Library has something to offer everyone, whether or not you are a member. To read a newspaper, leaf through a magazine or simply have a chat in the library cafe, for example, you do not need to have a library card.
And as for children; the library offers activities like organized searches, story telling, gaming and children’s theatre. The library participates in large national and municipal manifestations and events such as ‘Nationale Voorleesdagen’, ‘Nederland Leest’, ‘(Kinder) Boekenweek’ and ‘Landelijke Kinderjury.’

Music practice room
To amateurs, professionals or students of music, the Central Library offers a Steinberg grand piano located in a sound proof music practice room, to be rented by the hour.
