Welcome to the English page of the The Hague Public Library. Our library has 18 locations around the city, please find the addresses and opening hours here.
If you want to go to a jazz concert on a Sunday morning, see an art exhibition, have your antiques valued on a Christie’s valuation day or just take out the latest Stephen King, The Hague Public Library has it all and is also a bustling centre of culture and information as well as being one of the greatest meeting places in The Hague. This splendid location, in Richard Meier’s spectacular ‘Ice Palace’, has retro lounge chairs, brightly coloured sofas, vast reading tables and a trendy café.
The extensive collection of books includes hundreds of titles in English, German and French. The library is also famous for its large collection of rare sheet music and houses an impressive number of art house movies, CDs, DVDs, impressive and costly volumes on art, children’s books for all ages and much, much more!

The library not only contains a soundproof music room - where you can practice the piano without antagonizing your neighbours! – but also has a children’s library, a digital information centre and a large silent area for undisturbed reading or studying. On the tenth floor the ‘Haagse Lobby’ has ample space for lectures or debates plus a dazzling view of the city centre. We look forward to welcoming you to one of our libraries.
