Open from 20th May! What can you drop in for?

Published on: 18 May 2021 14:03

Good news! The libraries can open again from 20th May. You are welcome to come in to look for books or you can reserve a study corner online so you can study in peace and quiet. After five months’ closure, everyone at The Hague Library is looking forward to seeing you again at one of our 15 libraries! The local branches will be open from Monday to Saturday from 12 noon to 5 p.m., while the Central Library will be open during its normal opening hours.

With this re-opening we must, of course, still observe certain rules. They are all well known: observing a distance of 1.5 metres (5 foot) and wearing a face mask. If you are sick or have a cold, please come some other time. Only a limited number of people may be inside the library at the same time, so sometimes you may have to wait. We therefore request that you come alone if possible.

What you can do - at a glance:

  • Look for and return books.
  • Study in one of the study corners:
this is possible in most branches but only with a reservation which can be made no sooner than one day in advance. A link to the booking system will be available on our website and social media page by Wednesday at the latest. This space will be kept free for you for the period of the time block that you have reserved. We are required to carry out a health check when a reservation is made. And if you decide not to come? We don’t have that many study corners, so please cancel your booking so that someone else can use it to study.
  • The piano cell and the electric piano can be reserved at the reception desk in the Central Library, registration at the desk is mandatory.
  • The CoffeeStar bar in the Central Library will be open for take away only - Coffee to go.

We regret that at the moment we cannot provide the following services:

  • Use of Musicweb PCs and DVD players in the Central Library.
  • Document printing
  • Reading in the library
  • Working in the library
  • Use of the library seating

What next?

Hopefully, more will be possible from 9 June. We will keep a close eye on the news and let you know as soon as we know more. For now, we would like to thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.

We look forward to seeing you soon at one of the libraries!
