Bad Penny Publications, an anthropological research journal and platform founded by The Hague artists Noor Remmen and Emiliy Stevenhagen, are the in-house guest artists for a summer residency at the library. Conducted over two months, Bad Penny has created a magazine in collaboration with the library’s public that will be presented during our festive launch event. As part of our launch we will host a separate spoken word and reading program with artists that in their practice are connected to our general theme and research topic: “Language Love”. In July we sent out an open call to anyone that would like to respond to our topic, asking them questions about the future of the library and how language, translation and being lost in both plays a role in their art practices and writing. Some of these answers have been published in our magazine and some of them we would like to share with you during a sit down program composed of short performances. 

Als onderdeel van hun maandlange Artist in Residence in de Centrale Bibliotheek , nodigt Bad Penny publications (een uitgeverij gerund door kunstenaars Noor Remmen en Emily Stevenhagen) je uit voor de lancering van hun gezamenlijke publicatie 'Language love'.  De publicatie ´Language Love´ is gemaakt in samenwerking met het publiek van de bibliotheek, rond het thema van het vinden van een 'gemeenschappelijke taal'. In juli hebben we een open oproep verzonden naar iedereen die wilde reageren op het onderwerp, waarbij we hen vragen stelden over de toekomst van de bibliotheek en hoe taal, vertaling en het gevoel van 'verloren zijn' een rol spelen in hun kunstpraktijken en schrijven.Sommige van deze uitkomsten zijn gepubliceerd in de publicatie en sommige willen we graag met je delen tijdens het programma bestaande uit korte voordrachten.

The launch afternoon will celebrate the completion of the zine, a collaborative anthropological research journal created through workshops conducted with the library's public in August. The publications will be accompanied by a program of spoken word performances and readings by artists from the Den Haag community, sharing their approach to the topic of being 'lost in translation'.We would love to invite you to pop by and talk to us about our process, see the outcome of our collaboration and celebrate with us

De lancering viert het eindrestaat van de Artist in Residence. De publicaties zullen worden begeleid door een programma van optredens en voordrachten van kunstenaars uit de Den Haag gemeenschap, waarin ze hun benadering van het onderwerp 'verloren in vertaling' delen. We zouden je graag willen uitnodigen om even langs te komen, met ons te praten over ons proces, het resultaat van onze samenwerking te zien en samen met ons te vieren.
