Internationale dag van de talen (Nederlands)
Ter gelegenheid van de Europese Dag van de Talen, een jaarlijks initiatief van de Raad van Europa, organiseert de Centrale Bibliotheek een kleurrijke infomarkt waarin zes landen hun taal en cultuur in de schijnwerpers zetten: Frans, Duits, Grieks, Iers, Spaans en natuurlijk Nederlands. In Studio B, op de eerste verdieping van de bibliotheek, kunt u kennis maken met de rijke cultuur van deze landen.
Elk land presenteert zich met een informatiestand waar u kunt proeven van lokale specialiteiten, deelnemen aan een taalquiz met aantrekkelijke prijzen, en genieten van korte optredens. Denk aan Franse chansons, Spaanse poëzie, een cúpla focal uit Ierland en een demonstratie van traditionele Griekse dans. Bovendien is er de mogelijkheid om deel te nemen aan een 'speakdate', waarbij u met moedertaalsprekers kunt sparren en uw taalvaardigheden kunt testen.

Come and enjoy musical performances, engage in 'speakdating' and get to know the participating organisations. You can take part in a multilingual quiz and enjoy the specialities of the participating countries.
"How do we in give substance to the ambition of The Hague International City of Peace and Justice? "In many ways," says initiator Gabriele de Koning, "but certainly also by bringing different cultures into contact with each other. And then even minimal language skills help. So, take an entry-level course or an advanced course, get a language coach. Learning is always fun." The organising parties are staging an information market to show you which languages can you learn where and how.  

The city continues to grow thanks to bilingual and multilingual workers and students of all ages. Language skills are the foundation of international networking.  That is why the Council of Europe each year organises the European Day of Languages. Expand your network, read that Italian paper yourself, enjoy the intellectual challenge and understanding other people. So come to the Library and go for a quick assessment of your knowledge level through speakdating with a native speaker. And don´t forget to have a good time.
